Dr. Veronica Vargas-Paredes is a bilingual (Spanish/English) and bicultural Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She is currently working towards becoming a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. Dr. Vargas-Paredes has extensive clinical experience working with diverse populations in a variety of settings, including community mental health agencies, schools, universities, hospitals, and private practice providing individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, and group therapy. For the past eleven years, Dr. Vargas-Paredes has worked as a Psychotherapist at Kaiser Permanente Orange County in the Department of Psychiatry. She has also provided clinical supervision to trainees at Kaiser Permanente. She is a Mentor for the Kaiser Permanente Mental Health Scholars Academy and the LA-CAMFT Therapist of Color Mentorship Program. Dr. Vargas-Paredes' clinical specialties include Latinx mental health, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, women’s concerns, and multicultural and diversity issues. Dr. Vargas-Paredes is a Certified Domestic Violence Counselor and Certified Sexual Assault Counselor in the state of California. She is trained in various modalities and evidence-based practices, including TEAM-CBT, IPT and TRM. She completed an APA Accredited predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at UCLA Counseling and Psychological Services where she provided therapy to students and conducted ADHD assessments and other testing as well as provided clinical supervision to practicum students. She also completed a predoctoral internship at CSUDH Student Psychological Services working with first generation college students and students of color and completed a practicum at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center working with patients with a dual diagnosis. Dr. Vargas-Paredes received her Ph.D. and M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, Los Angeles (APA Accredited). She also earned an M.S. in Counseling from the California State University, Fullerton. She received her B.A. in Psychology and Social Behavior and her B.A. in Sociology from the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Vargas-Paredes is a member of the following professional organizations: the American Psychological Association, the California Psychological Association, the National Latinx Psychological Association, the California Latinx Psychological Association, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. She is a Founding Member and the Past President of the California Latinx Psychological Association.
